Overview

Kumil Energy Limited is a company registered in Zambia, with a view to invest in an agriculture and renewable energy project with the sole aim of producing anhydrous fuel ethanol, electricity and cane juice from sugarcane.

The production of ethanol using sugarcane feedstock with high carbon emission saving potential and which conform to EU and international standards is highly on demand. Many existing biofuel projects, in particular those processed from corn, wheat and soya will fail to pass the barrier entry of the major ethanol importing countries because they do not meet the 50% CO2 saving threshold.

The main focus of Kumil Energy Limited will be the following:

• Production of anhydrous Ethanol for blending into Petrol and Diesel

• Production of Electricity using bagasse from sugar cane

Our people have expertise in every aspect of Kumil Energy Limited's business, including ethanol and sugar cane production, customer service, public policy and government relations, farm management, commodities pricing, transportation logistics, finance, project development and corporate partnering.

Simon Bota
Chairman of the Board
Simon Bota is an experienced Business Manager with 25 years of Strategic Operations in Banking. He is the former General Manager of Multichoice Zambia,past President of Rotary Club of Nkwazi and also chairs the Cheshire Homes Community Based Rehabilitation Programme. Former Board member of the Times of Zambia,Zambia Association of Chambers of Commerce and Industry,and the Board of the Zambia Export Development Fund. He has a Masters Degree in Business Administration.

Patrick Wanjelani
Chief Executive Officer
Patrick Wanjelani has over 20 years’ experience in Banking, Treasury and Finance. Has an MBA from Oxford University and is a Fellow of ACCA. Patrick has been a Director in Barclays Bank, ZESCO, Rural Electrification Authority (Board Chairman), Lusaka Water and Sewerage Company, Southlands Investments Ltd and Real Estates Investment Zambia Plc.

Choongo Chibawe
Chief Operating Officer
Choongo Chibawe is an accomplished agricultural and business consultant with more than twenty (20) years of relevant professional and progressive experience in private sector trade, Finance, Agribusiness and enterprise development. He holds a Bachelor of Agricultural Sciences degree and a Masters Degree in Business Administration. This has enhanced his versatility in Investment Advisory services.

Dr. John Kayombo Ndonji
Technical Director
Dr. John Kayombo Ndonji is an Engineering Scientist and Consultant with expertise in the chemical, food and bio process industries (Biofuels and Bio products). He has a Doctorate in Engineering Science (Chemical Engineering) from the University of Oxford and Masters Degree in Biotechnology and Environmental Engineering. He has over 19 years of experience in research and industry and is also a proprietor of JNK Industries Ltd, a manufacturer of functional food products.
